REVENGE OF THE BOX OFFICE

So, I don't know if you're aware, but there's a new Star Wars movie out. I went and saw it last night with some of my friends. Hmmm. How to sum-up...well, it was entertaining. And visually, quite an experience. And Ewan McGreggor made it worth watching. The script wasn't exactly Shakespeare and it kind of made Hayden Christiansen seem as if English were his second or third language and he didn't always understand what he was saying. But I won't blame that on him as an actor. I thought he was good in "Life As a House", and i've heard good things about "Shattered Glass". I guess it really just depends on the script and the director...imagine that. All over, i'd say it's worth seeing, because you've gotta see it, right? I mean, it's the last one (cough cough), and in it, all of the "questions" are answered.

We saw it at the famous Archlight Theatre. They have a good set-up in that you have assigned seating with your ticket, so you can arrive five minutes before start-time and know that you have a seat. It's super fancy in there, too; all stadium seating, gourmet snack-bar, gift-shop. Pretty cool. And I went with my BF Tina and some friends from work; and by "friends from work", I mean two massive and adorable barbacks, their reality TV star friend, and our resident comedian. We all went for dinner after at a great little place on Sunset and had yummy fried plantains and goat cheese salads. Good times.

BUMMER OF THE WEEK

My show didn't get picked-up. Oh well. That's part of the biz, ya' know. It was a good stepping stone and a superior learning experience. And on the next thing that I book, I won't be so green. Nothing but good things.

NEVER AGAIN

I will never be awake for a root canal again. I had a wisdom tooth that was bothering me, so I went in to get it pulled and found out that I needed the root canal done. Yeah, bummer. I've never had one before and I had heard many horror stories about the procedure, so I was more than a little freaked when they told me I needed it, and that they weren't going to knock me out for it. Uh, wha? You're gonna have to put me to sleep, I think. It's too painful to be awake for, right? "No, no, you'll be fine...you won't feel anything, we promise. Between the local and the nitros, you'll be great." Famous last words.

The procedure was in two parts. On the first day, the shot me up with nov and gave me the gas (which ROCKED, by the way...she could have taken six or seven teeth and I wouldn't have cared) and then drilled a bit on the one tooth, then yanked the wisdom. Done. Cool, no problem. This was a breeze. Yeah, turns out I misunderstood the break-down of the procedures. I thought I was mostly done on that day. I found out the hard way that the worst was yet too come. My root canal was honestly the most painful experience of my entire life. She didn't give me enough nov, so I could FEEL her touching the nerve; poking, scrapping, stabbing! And what made it worse, she didn't BELIEVE me when I told her I was in pain. Tears, streaming down my face, jackknifing off the table, grabbing her hand, and she's like "No, no, that's just the pressure." No, no it's not. I know pressure, and I know pain. I can tell you exactly how many pins she put in and where they are, because I felt them driving them into my nerve. She ended-up having to shoot me up like five different times. I was exhausted when I left her office.

I had been prepared to recommend her to my friends after my first visit, but definitely not now. I should never have had to feel that much pain. I have reported her to 1800DENTIST, and I hope that they'll remove her from their list. I can understand you not giving enough medication to block the pain and then correcting your mistake, but to not want listen to your patient and tell them they aren't feeling pain when they clearly are, is unconscionable.

AWESOME PAINKILLER OF THE DAY

Dude, I've heard the stories, but Vicadin ROCKS. I didn't want to have to take anymore after Friday because it was so nice, but I needed it yesterday. Oh well. Now all of my friends are trying to get my left-overs. Druggies.

ARRRGH!!!

I wrote an entire, detailed post about my life in the past couple of weeks, and then it got erased by the freakin' blogger site that I'm connected to. Again, ARRRGH. I was so mad about the whole thing, I refused to try again for a couple of days. But here I am, and here goes...

I moved!! YEAH! I absolutely love the new place that I am living. It's a beautiful neighborhood with a hiking trail three blocks away, and it's now only four minutes drive to my place of work. I used to have to leave 45 minutes ahead of time to be safe, so this is a real treat.
I have a new roommate named Larry; a great guy from Philly (and all of that that image brings-up in the head), and yet he's totally unexpected in a lot of ways; one being that he was born and raised in France until he was 7 years old, and still speaks fluent French! Wha? The oddity of hearing him speak flawless French is like how it would be to hear someone like Willie Nelson bust out with perfect Mandarin Chinese. Fantastic. I've worked with the kid for about six months now and I didn't even know all of this about him until a week ago. I asked him why he doesn't use the whole "I can speak French" thing to his advantage with the ladies, and he replied "Because that would be cheating...that's too easy." Awesome.

It took us 13 hours to move through a long series of interesting events. We started with the only things we had which were basically our bedroom furniture and personal things, and ended the night with free couches, pots, pans, dishes, glasses, kitchen gadgets, a blender, a Monet print, knives, and a vacuum. Luck of the draw. Some lady was moving cross-country the next day and was giving away a grip-load of really nice things. We got about $1000 dollars worth of stuff that we really needed, so it was a good day.

On a completely different subject, I am in a LOT of pain. I am having wisdom tooth problems, but I have an appointment tomorrow morning, and hopefully it should be taken care of then. Please please please, let it be. It hurts!

CUTE OF THE DAY

Lily has Cinderella fruit snacks. Cute.

I am terribly sorry it has taken me so long to post. I will write more this afternoon, I promise!!
